As a Disability Employment Services and registered NDIS provider, able to deliver the Early School Leaver Support service to eligible young people, Advance Personnel collaborates with local high schools and colleges to develop a plan to support the transition of students from education into employment. Advance Personnel then provides individualised support and guidance to students and thier families and carers, so that they are able to access appropriately supported transition pathways into the workforce. Where there is not a strong link with a disability employment agency prior to college graduation, students and parents find it significantly more difficult to make the connection and students are then less likely to go on to fully engage in employment as a natural part of community life.
Many eligible students engage in our program while still completing their final year of school/college.
Advance Personnel provides students, their parents and carers with accurate and easily understood information about Disability Employment Services Programs and eligibility criteria for registration.
Advance Personnel attends colleges to provide group as well as individual information sessions to students and support networks to discuss whether the Advance Personnel Program delivered under the Disability Employment Services guidelines would meet the support needs of individual students.
Advance Personnel hosts a table at the annual schools Careers Expo sponsored by ACT Government and also at Queanbeyan Post School Options. These events allow students and their parents to access information on the wide range of services which are available.
Advance Personnel works closely with transition to work programs and other community service programs to assist eligible school leavers to become job ready.
Advance Personnel assists in preparing students for life post-college and many young adults and their parents have valued the support provided by this agency.
Those who have registered with Advance Personnel at the school leaver stage of their lives and then have gone on to engage in the workforce, in preparation programs or further training to enhance their employability potential, have benefited from this agency’s holistic approach to support.
A genuine understanding of participants’ barriers and then implementation of strategies to address and overcome these encourages students/school leavers to fully engage in our program. This is important in achieving outcomes in areas of self-confidence and self-esteem as well as in employment. This results in an improved quality of life.
Please don’t hesitate to contact Advance Personnel to obtain general information, discuss individual circumstances or arrange an appointment.
